Finding "Georgia Vorhees of Seelysburg"

I have wanted the write this blog for sometime now. Tonight I introduce you to one of the long lost or left behind lines of our family. As exhibit 'A' (below), I give you my starting point with my research of this family. The page Hugh E. Jameson left my family, was all I had to start my research. Thank god for the internet.

A page from Hugh E. Jameson's genealogy

I have posted on William H. Jameson in a past blog. I have also touched on the three oldest children of William H. Jameson and Mary Jane (Shuster) Jameson. I leave Mary Jane Shuster and Elza Elmer Jameson for future posts. Tom Jameson has answered where Seelysburg, Ohio was in a comment. Now to Georgia...

So, who was Georgia (Jameson) Vorhees? A quick answer; she is a case of an incorrect name. The truth is, she is Nellie M. (Jameson) Vorhies of Malta Township, Morgan County, Ohio. The best I can tell, no one has put together this families genealogy together before. Now to her genealogy and a few pictures and newspaper clippings to add. One last note; in the recent sent letter from Tom Jameson, that was attached to my last blog, Cecil W. Jameson got her name correct. She was his first cousin.

Tom's Got Some Great Questions On The Jameson's Of Ohio

Tom Jameson and I almost daily send emails back and forth. Lately Tom's been hitting me with some great questions, none of which I have the answers. I wanted to post a few here to see if we might pick up some leads. Please email me or Tom if you have anything that might help on any of these questions. It's fine if anyone might want to only comment, that might start a lead at least. Any bit of help is better then none...

Question #1
Thomas Jameson's wife, Mary Emaline (Sears) Jameson, remarried after the death of Thomas. The second husband treated her poorly and their marriage ended shortly after. We do not have any names or dates on this marriage- can anyone help?

-added information; Thomas Jameson (her first husband) died 05 Sep 1877; Mary died 05 Aug 1894. The second marriage would have taken place between these dates. Mary's obituary does not state anything of the second marriage, but does list that she died in the town of Deshler, Henry County, Ohio. Thomas and Mary's farm was located just inside the Wood County line. This marriage would have most likely taken place in either Henry, Wood, or even possibley Hancock County, Ohio

Question #2
Agnes Jameson, the oldest daughter of Thomas and Mary (Sears) Jameson was born 11 Jul 1858 in Manchester Township, Morgan County, Ohio. In Thomas Jameson's journal (which Tom has), Thomas Jameson lists Agnes as her date of death as 19 Oct 1859. Joy (Dangler) Rayle has told to us that the cause of death had something to do with a fire. Joy had been told this by her mother, Prudence (Jameson) Dangler. -anyone know anything more about this?

-added information; It is unknown where Agnes Jameson was buried. We must be careful that we do not confuse Thomas and Mary's, Agnes, with her aunt; William and Mary (Haggerty) Jameson's, Agnes, who died 18 Oct 1857 in Manchester Township, Morgan County, Ohio. The aunt is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery and does have a headstone.

Question #3
Robert B. Jameson had wrote a letter to his uncle, Cecil W. Jameson about the early history of William Jameson (i.e., his occupation and where William lived before coming to Ohio) Cecil wrote back, dated 1931, stating that William 'first worked as a master mechanic in a rolling mill in or near Richmond, Virginia'. We know that William lived in Ellicott Mills/City (Thistle), Baltimore County, Maryland as early as 1830 as per the U.S. census records. -when and where was his arrival to the USA? -where in Richmond, Virginia was this factory that he worked at?

-added information; it is recorded that William married Mary (Haggerty) Jameson in Baltimore County, Maryland on 01 Jul 1828 (according to the Baltimore County Marriage Records). They had their first child, William H. Jameson, 06 Apr 1829 in Thistle, Baltimore County, Maryland. So, he would have lived in Maryland by at least 1828. William was born on 23 Mar 1792 in Whittingehame, East Lothian, Edinburgh County, Scotland. Most likely, he would have been in Richmond sometime between 1810 and 1827.
